Fiction by Howard Freedman

An Even Number of Odd Tales
A collection of 12 short stories and novelettes.

Some are sort of Twilight Zone - ish. Some leaning toward the science fiction genre and then there are the ones which stray into the realms of magic, the supernatural and other worldly dimensions. However, a lighter, more humorous side comes through on yet a few others. With the exception that they might all be considered a little odd, there is no underlying theme to the collection which includes: "The Hole in the Sky" about a not too distant future world where the government has kept a dark secret about their beginnings, "Forever" where the haunting a man has never managed to leave behind merges with what he recently tries to forget, and "The Rejuvenator" concerning a geeky love triangle and misconceptions about a secret formula.

In the Blue
a novella (ePub only)

In the not that distant future, those of means are offered an insurance policy at the birth of their child. At the core of the policy is the creation of a clone to be privately maintained for the purpose of medical intervention should replacement organs or blood be needed. Only sometimes, the policy is prematurely terminated and the clone is released from the Lifeline complex, whether they want to be or not. Especially if the one you've come to love is left behind.

Genesis Pointe is one from the Odd Tales book. It's about a college professor who goes on an adventure when his beliefs in man's origin places him in a sticky spot.

The Black Siren is a newer story. There's pirates, stolen booty, and the story of two generations of treasure hunters who try to find a ship that sank a couple hundred years ago. This one is not in the book. Just a teaser for what's in store when the second book comes out. When? Let's say sometime this decade, so check back often.
